In the beginning, a tropical storm had caused a tree to land on our roof. It made a large opening for water to drip inside, destroying our ceiling directly above our bedroom. It was a terrifying encounter and luckily the tree did not go all the way through the roof. We were lucky. It could have smashed us in our bed while we were sleeping. This house is very old. Designed by my mother, this house was erected in the seventies. I am passionate about this house, even if it's too old and needs looking after. Also, since I have stayed here for several years, I know for a fact that the valley in the blueprint of the roof requires a web design to stop water from seeping in. I mentioned this to the roofer. Except, he did not take note of it. He patched up the roof as he had done always with the roofs in the past. I let it pass. Lesson: Assume nothing and constantly keep track on the progress of work until it is finished and conforms with your conditions. It is your money so make sure it is done right. After repairing the roof and ceiling in the bedroom, then came the ice storms. Continue reading →
Get Mops For A Risk-free Residence is a post from: Reachings

In the beginning, a tropical storm had caused a tree to land on our roof. It made a large opening for water to drip inside, destroying our ceiling directly above our bedroom. It was a terrifying encounter and luckily the tree did not go all the way through the roof. We were lucky. It could have smashed us in our bed while we were sleeping. This house is very old. Designed by my mother, this house was erected in the seventies. I am passionate about this house, even if it’s too old and needs looking after.

Our roof was mounted with ice during the winter. As the ice commenced melting little by little, the water started to accumulate inside the roof, dripped down the wall and messed up the kitchen floor.

Therefore, we weighed all our alternatives. What kind of floor did we want for the kitchen? Does it have to be laminate, linoleum, vinyl, tile or wood? We looked at the differences between them and made our decision on ceramic tile. Vinyl floors are made of chlorinated petrochemicals, linoleum is made from raw and natural ingredients, tile is exceptionally stain and water resistant which makes it wonderful for kitchens and bathrooms. Ceramic tile is made from clay, marble, slate, glass or flint. We like floors made of wood. But, since we use the kitchen more often, we preferred tiles. It was the best decision we have ever made. Aside from utterly stunning, tiles are strong, can endure for many years, and its upkeep is minimal.

A simple swipe of the mop along with a good cleanser is enough to keep your tile floor in perfect shape to last for many years. We use floor cleansers made out of natural ingredients. Avoid using abrasive cleansers, brushes or scouring pads because these can graze the tile floor. Through time, constant use of bleach can cause the tile grout to discolor, so stay away from bleaches. You might want to consider a seal or glaze for your new ceramic floor. I use the wax because it is easy to maintain.

Keep your floor clean on a regular basis to prevent dirt build-up. You can sweep the floor or vacuum it (one that does not have beater bars as it can scratch the tile), and wet the mop in between complete cleaning. Do not use products that are ammonia-based on glazed tile, immediately mop spills as soon as they occur to avoid staining on the tiles, and put mats at the entrance door to catch dust and dirt.

I can’t explain the feeling of tiles under my feet. I go barefoot in the house almost always, even in the winter. The tile is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It is easy to maintain, gorgeous and resilient. My tile floor is the best!

Do you really need Micro Fiber Mops for the house? if you do, there are many of mops to pick from at Safe Home Products.
