Teachers, counselors, librarians and administrators are all occupations in our modern global society. An education career is initialized with an undergraduate degree. If a prospective educator decides to continue his or her career, then specialized graduate degrees can be obtained.

Prospective teachers begin their education careers by taking classes that will certify them to teach either elementary or secondary level students. Educators with the gift to work with K-3 or 4-6 grade level students will be certified to teach in elementary schools. This type of educator has to have a base knowledge of all subject matter at this level due to inclusion of classes. If a teacher decides to work with grades 7-12, then the secondary classroom is the best fit. This type of educator specializes in a subject area.

A teacher can then decide to specialize in the areas of counselors, librarians, or administrators. Counselors are at schools to help students through emotional issues, but they also are there for helping students achieve academic success through standardize testing. Secondary counselors have an added duty of aiding students with college scholarships.

Another education career in schools is school librarian. A degree in library science certifies a teacher to become a media specialist. This is an evolved position that not only has typical librarian duties, but also a technology element. In today’s society, a media specialist must be just as familiar with computers as he or she is with print media.

Administration is another branch that a graduate may be able to receive a degree in with the educational realm. Principals and assistant principals are in charge of the learning environment of the school. Besides being on a campus, some administrators housed at the central office level. Education careers can also be specialized in the areas of curriculum, professional development, and educational law. The central office staff size is usually in ratio to the size of the school system.

A occupation involving schools in a global world can begin at an undergraduate level with a elementary or secondary teacher. If the educator decides to specialize using graduate level degrees, then the positions of counselor, librarian, or administrator are options.

The opportunities of positions in the education careers are varied. You can learn more about qualifications and requirements by visiting the web pages at http://www.educationcareernow.com/ soon.

Becoming a classroom teacher in a public school starts with getting a college degree; completing the coursework required for an education major – usually two years of upper division study – and student teaching for six to twelve months. The next phase is to obtain a license or alternative teaching certification. As these credentials are state specific, it is important to explore exact requirements from the state where one wishes to work.

In many states, completion of a college course of study and testing in a credentialing program will automatically result in state teaching credentials. In other states, licensing involves passing some kind of exam or exams in the teacher’s subject area, whether in general elementary education or in a specialty, such as reading. One test that is typically required even before entering a teaching program is the Praxis.

The Praxis test series is currently mandatory in 40 states. The Praxis I is usually required in the freshman or sophomore year of school. Referred to as Pre-Professional Skills Test, it covers basic skills in reading, writing and math. Aside from being a prerequisite for state teachers’ licensing, Praxis I is also often used to pre-qualify applicants for an Education major. Praxis II, or Professional Assessment for Beginning Teachers, tests for specific knowledge by subject area, as well as general and specific teaching skills. It is generally taken in the junior or senior year of college.

Credentials are usually issued within defined limits, such as:

Early childhood education (preschool to third grade) Elementary (first grade through eighth grade) Middle and secondary credentials require a field of expertise credential, in combination with other state specific requirements.

The highly publicized teacher shortage in the United States is most critical in inner city areas, and in some specific subject matters such as technology, math and science. To address these challenges, most states have organized alternative teacher certification programs for individuals who have a desire to teach and already have at least a bachelor’s degree in subjects other than Education.

Also, some universities have created teacher education centers that enable individuals wanting to achieve certification or endorsements to their current licensing (for special education, English as a Second Language and the like) in an accelerated format.

The Praxis tests have stirred up a lot of controversy as even professionals who are currently teaching, and are considered very good instructors, often fail them. Also, both African Americans and Hispanics, who are underrepresented in the teaching industry, fail the Praxis more often than Caucasians and Asians. This has led to serious concern that the emphasis on these standardized tests encourages the homogenization of the teacher workforce in an increasingly diverse world.

From “No Child Left Behind” to private initiatives such as that of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, teacher proficiency and effectiveness continues to be a crucial concern in today’s competitive global economy. The Praxis method of evaluating potential educators was developed as one way to address that concern. Perhaps it is not the concept that needs some reconsideration, but the content or format of the tests themselves.

They offer alternative teacher certifications as well as MA and MS degrees in educations via their alternative education programs, so students can continue to work and study simultaneously for their higher degrees.

Even though it is not easy to obtain a license, it is worth the strains undertaken during the process of obtaining it. The reason behind that goes to the hard reality that this license is a great reflector of the holder’s understanding, specialized knowledge, competency, and so on. What’s more is, it can be mandatory as per the regulations of local, state and federal governments to have such a license before performing the job or holding some of the key positions pertaining to the specialized field of the license.

Obtaining a license includes getting the information together for the application, finishing the appropriate specialized education, and passing the exam. The best way to get ready for passing the license test is to divide the procedure into multiple attainable steps.

The procedure starts with researching into the standards for receiving Texas teacher certification certification within your state or town. Follow-up by obtaining the details of being qualified for licensure for instance the needed paperwork and identification in addition to abilities and instruction, candidacy conditions, costs, examination dates, and review materials.

Before applying for your license, make certain you are well organized and well prepared. Studying and using practice tests is a good next step to getting ready for the examination. There are many resources, such as study guides, study groups and practice exams, obtainable through the test administering agency to help you in preparing for your license examination.

Apart from familiarizing you with the various question formats, practice tests determine the areas which you should analyze.

Another way to prepare for the test is to talk with friends and family who have already taken the test. Ask them about the methods they used to prepare, what they found difficult about the examination, what content they remember being on the test, and other helpful pointers. Remember, always check the license website and also the local office to make sure that you have not missed something while getting ready for the exam.

The result will be communicated to you upon completing the license examination. If you have passed the examination you will receive the appropriate licensure, or depending on the policy of the licensing authority you might have to undergo the exam again within the given period.

Once you’ve acquired the Texas teacher certification license, you might be obligated to routinely renew your license through extra exams or instruction to be sure that your expertise and abilities are up-to-date.

Study Guides specifically created to help you to master the subject matter are one of the most useful ways of preparing for the Texas teaching certification. They usually incorporate practice tests and other resources that can get you used to the way in which the exam will be given.

Writing a resume is an art in itself that has been discussed at great length in many other places. There are, however, some things to keep in mind that a specific to creating a resume when applying for English teaching positions in Korea.

The first thing schools are of course looking for is teaching experience. If you have taught before, that’s great–put it at the top of your resume! If you think haven’t taught before, don’t sweat it, because you are probably wrong. Most people have never been a teacher before, but almost everyone has filled a teaching role at one time or another. Think creatively–if you’ve never been a teacher before you’ve probably never thought to put your teaching experience on a resume. Think of any time you have worked with children, or helped your peers or other adults learn something.

Interviewers see educating experience as an immediate added bonus, and it will absolutely enable you anyone to get an job interview. Having said that, be completely ready to discuss your practical experience in depth in your cellphone interview mainly because it will undoubtedly become a key talking point.

After that, it is time to stress how good you are at writing. Talk about virtually any occasions when you have had direct or indirect writing experience. In my application, I went into great details about editing for my college magazine. In the event you penned a bachelor’s or master’s dissertation, make sure to include it that in addition to a detailed explanation of the content material and also the page length. After that, you may also talk about jobs when you did a considerable amount of writing, such as a secretarial or administrative position. This might be useful to list any writing-intensive programs you have taken. Numerous private academies in Korea concentrate on English composition for high school and university entrance essays. Make yourself a precious asset to these types of companies by displaying that you have a strong history in writing.

Koreans take education and studying very seriously (what other country could have a popular TV show called “God of Study”?) so academic awards are generally smiled upon. On my application, I mentioned that I was part of the National English Society, as well as the Dean’s List . In addition, if you had an especially high grade point average (anything above a 3.), that would be great to include as well. If you have virtually any teaching or language certifications, this needs to be included. Many instructing certifications (TESOL, TEFL, CELTA to name a few) will permit you to negotiate a higher wage.

Besides content, you’ll find a few clear design factors that should be used for any job application. Stick to one page except in cases where you have numerous years of educating experience. Use bolding, underlining, and italicizing to emphasize elements of the resume. Check out for grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Grammatical and spelling problems are a bad sign for organisations hiring English educators. Have a few people go through your job application. Definitely use an easy-to-read font. I personally use a serif font for my main text and a sans serif font for my sub-heads.

Along with a resume, pretty much job employers and schools require a head shot. Having said that, there’s no simple way around this somewhat unpleasant demand. South Korea is a very image-conscious nation, and they want to ensure that you “appear” the part of the English teacher. The head shot is just as significant as a good resume, and may be a determining issue for a employment offer. Also, use a snapshot that shows you smiling. Make sure, however, that there are no visible piercings or tattoos in the pictures. When I began the job process, I was told by several recruiters that I needed another photo because of my nose ring.

With that, you have all best tools to get a the best position teaching English in Korea.

To get inside information on seeking out a teaching job in Korea, you can stop by our website.
